Music is no longer programmed. It is performed through physics.
FIELD is a gestural instrument. Your movement becomes force, force becomes a field, and the field becomes music you could not have written down. Scroll. The point behind these words is the whole subject.
DAWs are powerful. They were never designed for human movement.
Every serious music tool asks the same thing first: place something on a grid. A note, a region, a step. That request assumes you already know what you want and already know the vocabulary to express it. For the vast majority of people it is not a first step. It is a wall.
Meanwhile the thing people actually do when music is playing is move.
Gesture is continuous. Music is discrete. Everything hard lives in that gap.
Physics is smooth
Energy, velocity and entropy vary continuously. Nothing about a hand moving is quantized.
Music is not
Pitch belongs to a scale, onsets belong to a grid. Map one directly onto the other and you get noise with a pulse.
Ambiguity is real
A drag that curves is an orbit. A tap that lingers is a hold. Without hysteresis the instrument feels like a slot machine.
Latency is a lie
Quantized audio feels late unless the eye is answered instantly. The fix is decoupling, not speed.
A conductor does not create notes. They shape an orchestra that is already playing.
So FIELD is playing before you arrive. There is nothing to place, nothing to arm, no first step to get wrong. You are not entering data, you are changing the weather.
Freedom you can feel, over constraints you cannot break.
The chord progression is fixed. Gesture chooses voicing, register, rhythm and density, never root motion. You experience total freedom; the system guarantees it cannot go out of key. A drone holds the root so nothing is ever unanchored, a density limiter turns frantic input into intensity rather than mud, and an arrangement automaton makes a full drop two seconds in impossible.
Lift
Height opens the filter and lifts the register.
Drive
Speed escalates the subdivision, eighths to sixteenths to rolls.
Charge
Press builds energy, which advances the arrangement.
Spread
Distance from centre opens the room.
This is not a video. It is the instrument.
Move anywhere. Press and hold to build. Record a gesture and it keeps conducting while you play something else.
Every performance leaves an object.
Audio & video
Captured post-limiter, so the file is exactly what you heard.
Your voice
Three seconds, granulated by the field. Same voice, different place, different sound, and no settings.
A poster
The performance frozen as an image.
A project
Gestures, not audio. Kilobytes. Re-render it at any size, any tempo, any time.
One particle. A field. And whatever you did with it.
The point you saw first was not decoration. It was the subject.
Best on a computer: a laptop or desktop with a mouse or trackpad. It needs WebGL2 and Web Audio, and the whole thing is played by moving a pointer across the screen. On phones it is untested and may not run properly.
